Is it just me, or does time move that much faster as we age? It’s a funny thing, really, since while the time seems to be flying by, sitting down to review what was accomplished in the last 12 months makes it seem like an eternity!
2023 was marked by one of our largest and most humbling challenge since we started Avenir IT over 15 years ago. Avenir IT underwent some major changes in the last 12 months setting the stage to fulfill our vision of being the most loved IT company in Canada and the best place to work in Winnipeg.
I’ll be honest – our celebration of 15 years in businesses started off a little rocky as we quickly discovered that our rapid growth from 2022 had outgrown our existing systems and processes that had brought us thus far. This was a hard lesson to learn and one that was no small task to recover from. After a complete overhaul of nearly all our internal tools, a rebuild of our help desk processes and the addition of some superstars to our team – our updated metrics now bring me tears of joy.
How much of an improvement? Well, I’m glad you asked! Our average ticket response times improved by 98% (less than 9 minutes), while our average resolution time on our help desk has improved by 91% compared to last year with numbers trending towards continued improvements. Best of all? Morale is high and our team is feeling the love from both their co-workers and their clients!
Aside from this challenging recovery, 2023 was full of very memorable and positive memories! My favourite moments were making the historic Exchange District our new home and travelling to Paris and Morocco with team members from Economic Development Winnipeg and CDEM to help us find some bilingual talent to join our team – a mission that I feel was very successful!
Closer to home, I also had the opportunity to travel within North America to speak on the topic of business as well as cybersecurity. My favourite speaking engagement being right here in Winnipeg when I spoke at the Government House during the Lieutenant Governor’s monthly “Evenings at Government House” series.
Looking back at 2023 makes me that much more excited for 2024. With our new foundation built and ready to take on the next phase of our business. We have some creative, fun, and innovative ideas that we can’t wait to share with you in the next year. Our plan is in place, and I am insanely motivated and excited to share it with you within the next 12 months.
